Short Description
A small, slender shark with a long, rounded snout, large, oval eyes, and oblique-cusped teeth; 2nd dorsal fin with conspicuous black tip covering one-half or more of the fin, other fins plain [536]. Grayish or grey-brown above, white below; black spot on the second dorsal fin [544].

Distribution
Indo-West Pacific: scattered records from East Africa to China and Australia. Often confused with Carcharhinus dussumieri and has often been listed under Carcharhinus tjutjot and Carcharhinus menisorrah. Source: www.gbif.org

Biology
Viviparous, with a yok-sac placenta; 1-2 pups per litter [517]; after a gestation period of ~ 9 months[2539]. 33-45 cm TL at birth [544]. Distinct pairing with embrace [17086]. Feeds on fish, squids and shrimps [536].
