Short Description
Diagnosis after Roberts, 2020 [29298]: Disc shape almost perfectly oval, slightly wider anteriorly than posteriorly. Nib small, barely projecting anteriorly. No enlarged sharp spines on dorsal surface of disc. Pectoral fin with propterygial + mesopterygial + metapterygial = total pterygiophores 43+15+40=98 left side, 44+14+39=97 right side. Pelvic fin pterygiophores 16+5=21 both sides. Free vertebral centra in single continuous series to well beyond stings 128. Large sharp spines on mid-dorsal surface of tail 10 or 11. Tail without lateral spines. Tail stings two, upper with 28/28 serrae, lower with 25/28. Large central portion with more or less uniformly large and uniformly distributed large non-ocellate round pale brown spots with indistinct borders, surrounded by a row of somewhat smaller similar spots, and two to five outermost rows of very much smaller similar spots just inside disc margin. Outermost row of these very small spots lies on edge itself of disc margin. Eyes and spiracular valves surrounded by numerous scattered small bright specks not present elsewhere. Ventral disc surface pale, almost white overall, with a very broad nearly complete marginal dark band with paler but distinct inner margin, not broken up into isolated spots, discontinued around snout, continued broadly on margin of pelvic fins. A small round black umbilical spot. Nib of snout black ventrally. Tail entirely very dark brown or black in dorsal view and largely brown in lateral view, with groups of small pale spots in lateral view. Ventral view of tail pale or white continuing from pale or white ventral disc surface, then with large white irregularly-shaped marks on a brown background. Despite its mention as a distinct
