Description
Original diagnose after Cappetta & Case (2016) p. 47 [24889]: Orectolobus species with a dentition close to that of the Recent species. However, compared to Recent species like O. ornatus (De Vis, 1883), or O. maculatus (Bonnaterre, 1788), O. ziegenhinei nov. sp. has a more massive cusp, heels less transversely developed and more perpendicular to the base of the cusp in labial view, a more salient and thicker rounded apron. he root shows a furrow oten completely open, with a large central foramen, that is not the case in recent species. In lateral teeth, vertical folds can differentiate at the base of the labial face of the cusp above the apron. Low marginal cusplets can be present in teeth corresponding to juvenile specimens.
