Original diagnosis after Wynd, Demar & Wilson, 2020 [28685]: Species of Restesia differing from the type species R. americana in possessing the following character state: median cusp invariably flanked on one side by a single lateral cusplet (versus bilaterally flanked by non-cuspate rounded shoulders).
