Description
Original diagnosis after Saugen, Roberts, Engelschion & Hurum, 2024 [34071]: Eorapax serrasis, based on isolated teeth, possess the following unique character combinations: Monocuspid (unlike Synechodontiformes and Hexanchiformes (except Sphenodus) that are multicuspids); minute vertical crests at the base of the crown and a strong transverse crest on the lingual face; lingually inclined cusp (differs from the sigmoidal cusp in Sphenodus); serrated cutting edge (different from the sharp cutting edge in Synechodus, Safrodus, Grozonodon, and Mucrovenator, and blunt in Wimanodon and Rhomphaiodon); anaulacorhizy to pseudopolyaulacorhizy root vascularization pattern (compared with anaulacorhizy in Grozonodon and Sphenodus, pseudopolyaulacorhizy in Synechodontiformes and Hexanchiformes); pseudoosteodont; enameloid includes SCE, PBE, TBE, and RBE (unlike in Rhomphaiodon, Safrodus, Sphenodus, and some Synechodus species, where RBE is absent).
