Description
Original diagnosis after Welton, 2016 [24457]: A genus of Dalatiidae, having relatively large lower teeth (maximum tooth height 7.95 mm); differing from all other dalatiids, except Euprotomicroides, in having lower teeth with a non-bilobate apron (except in teeth near the distal end of the dental series in Oligodalatias), and a convex, weakly developed uvula (may also be weakly developed in Squaliodalatias); further differing from all other dalatiids, except Dalatias and Squaliodalatias, in having lower teeth with serrated cutting edges (smooth to finely serrated in Squaliodalatias) of the cusp and distal heel, and from all dalatiids in having a relatively robust lingual transverse bulge just below the crown base; differing further from Dalatias in having lower teeth lacking a mesial lingual foramen, and upper teeth with the lower axial foramen on the labial root face, just below the crown base; differing further from Squaliodalatias in lacking upper teeth with a distal heel; differing further from Angoumeius in having lower teeth with almost the entire mesial and distal root border involved in articulation with adjacent mesial and distal teeth in the dental series, mesial labial and distal labial foramina that are smaller than the lower axial foramen, upper teeth with nearly vertical cusps, no distal heel, and presence of the lower axial foramen on the labial root face, just beneath the crown base; differing further from Dalatias, Isistius, and Angoumeius, in lacking a boutonniere; differing further from Euprotomicroides in lacking a mesial lingual foramen, having mesial labial and distal labial foramina smaller then the lower axial foramen, and having semioblique cusps; differing further from Acrosqualiolus in lacking articulation in the upper teeth, and absence of a distal heel; further differing from Euprotomicrus and Squaliolus in having a distal labial foramen that is less developed than the lower axial foramen.
