Distribution
Northeast Atlantic: northwestern Bay of Biscay. Northwest Atlantic: southern Labrador, Canada to southwestern Georges Bank. Southwest Pacific: Cook Strait, New Zealand. First record: 2012: North Carolina [15544];

Biology
Oviparous [7182]. Paired eggs are laid. Embryos feed solely on yolk [733]. Eggs have horn-like projections on the shell [17086]. Found in deepwater on lower parts of continental slopes, on submarine rises and on deep-sea plains adjacent to both. Feeds mainly on fishes, with a small amount of shrimps.
