Dark grey in color [544].

Distribution
Western Indian Ocean: southern Mozambique and Natal, South Africa [20053]. Possibly occurring in Maldives [544]. Western Pacific: Japan, off northeastern Taiwan [518], South China Sea, and probably Australia. North Atlantic [544]. Often confused with Centrophorus granulosus and Centrophorus lusitanicus.

Biology
Ovoviviparous, embryos feed solely on yolk [733]. Distinct pairing with embrace [17086]. Gives birth to litters of 1-6 pups after an unknown gestation period [2539].
