Description
Original diagnosis after Batchelor & Duffin, 2023 [31697]: Species known only from isolated, small-crowned teeth possessing a large, robust root. The crown is expandedmesiodistally, triangular in shape, and has a distinct sharp cutting edge labially. The crown is marked by a series of arcuate crests arranged parallel to the crown base in a tiered fashion on the occlusal surface. A labial crest and a lingual crest are separated by up to two intermediate crests. The lingual crest has a reflected margin distally. Each crest extends the full width of the crown and is surmounted by a sharp cutting edge. Some teeth are symmetrical whilst slightly asymmetrical specimens show slight distal inclination of the main cutting edge. Presumed lateral teeth are mesiodistally extended, with a lower apex. The crown/root junction is deeply undercut. The large bulky root is composed of two lobes, often of uneven size (the mesial lobe is the larger of the two), alongwith a lingual prominence or bulge. In labial view, the basal labial edge of the root is deeply concave. Between the lobes of the root, a medio-internal canal is presentwith amedio-internal foramen situated in its lingual floor.
