Short Description
Black flank marking on side of tail base with short truncated posterior lobe; additional oval dark marking near base of caudal fin, but no transverse marking across midlength of caudal fin [544].

Biology
Distinct pairing with embrace [17086]. Probably demersal on the outer continental shelves and upper slopes. Feeds on squids.

Description: Teeth, 17-17/18-18 (13-17-13-16/15-20-16-20), dissimilar in upper and lower jaws. Upper with five cusps in female specimens but seven cusps in male specimen, lower unicuspid shaped. Three scries of teeth functional in upper, one series in lower [3750];
