Short Description
Original diagnosis of Ng, White, Liu & Joung, 2025 [34933]: A medium-sized lanternshark species attaining 407 mm TL and being a member of the E. lucifer group, differing from the other members by having a combination of hook-like denticles, dorsal fins covered with denticles (except in juveniles), the origin of the flank-marking base well anterior to the second dorsal-fin origin, underside of snout with a reversed ‘W’-shaped naked area, the length of the ventral portion of caudal-base marking much longer than its width, and caudal-base marking 9.5%–10.0% TL, its tip tapering.

Distribution
Known only from Western Australia, from off Ledge Point north to off the Exmouth Peninsula [34933]

Dentition
Teeth dissimilar in upper and lower jaw, with strong ontogenetic and sexual dimorphism; upper teeth multicuspid, juveniles having one cusplet on each side of the cusp, whereas the female paratype having two, and the two mature males having three to five; inner pairs of cusplets of mature males often reduced; upper teeth in three functional series, in lower jaw unicuspid, in three series, one functional; lower teeth blade-like, with strongly oblique cusp, not erected in mature individuals. No distinctive symphyseal and intermediate teeth. Tooth count for the paratype (CSIRO H 9052–22): upper jaw 30, lower jaw 36, total count 66. [34933]
