Description
Original diagnosis after Reinecke, Mollen, Gijsen, D’Haeze & Hoedemakers, 2024 [32774]: Taxon based on isolated fossil teeth, typically 4-45 mm wide, arrangeable to a clearly disjunct-monognathic heterodont "myliobatid" dental pattern; sexual heterodonty apparently absent, dignathic heterodonty probably moderate; teeth of symphyseal files rectilinear or slightly flexuous in occlusal/basal view, much wider than long (W/L ratio typically > 7), with angular distal margins; teeth of lateral and marginal files, slightly wider than long or as wide as long, subhexagonal to pentagonal in outline, with angular to rounded margins (in occlusal/basal view); height of crown in symphyseal teeth mesio-distally rather constant or axially slightly increased (convex), decreasing distally in most lateral and marginal teeth (in labial/lingual view); occlusal surface of the symphyseal, lateral and marginal teeth often slightly depressed transversely and - except in the case of the marginal teeth - labio-lingually traversed by grooves of varying depth, the spacing and number of which varies per specimen; occlusal crown surface coated with shiny enamel displaying a modulated structure consisting elongate meandering strings and granules at the order of 0.1 mm; functional wear commonly minor or even absent; labial crown surface inclined in labial direction, covered with a finely structured, reticulate to pitted ornamentation and coarser, subvertical folds closer to the crown basis; shape of lingual transversal edge of the occlusal surface quite irregular; lingual crown face subvertical and generally more coarsely textured than the labial face, displaying subvertical depressions and irregular folds; basal lingual crown heel smooth and rather prominent; root lower than or nearly as high as the crown, and lingually displaced clearly off the crown axis (profile view); laminae of the polyaulacorhize root quite regular in width, length and spacing, and basally flat; numerous, small foramina in nutrient grooves and on labial and lingual root surfaces.
