Biology
Oviparous, with 2 egg-cases at a time, hatching at about 11 cm (Ref. 5510). Embryos feed solely on yolk [733]. Inhabits the continental shelf, in inshore waters. Most common in shallow sandy areas. Feeds on small bottom-dwelling fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods.
