Short Description
Original Diagnosis after DIDIER & STEHMANN, 1996 [3585]: A rhinochimaerid species assigned to Neoharriotta on the basis of a skeletally sup-ported anal fin, separated from the ventral cau-dal fin by a distinct space. Neoharriotta pumila is distinguished from its congeners by the follow-ing combination of characters: snout broad and firm tapering to a blunt point; second dorsal fin uneven in profile sloping posteriorly; pelvic fins with straight distal margin; anal fin originating posterior to insertion of second dorsal fin; nasal lateral-line canal straight across ventral side of snout; and preopercular and horizontal later-osensory canals separated by a narrow inter-space. Small-bodied form, sexual maturity is reached at 160 mm BDL in males.
