Description
Original diagnosis after Villafaña et al., 2025 [35047]: This new genus and species of the family Pristiophoridae is characterized by the following combination of dental characters: triangular, short and pointed principal cusp in lingual view, with well-defined shoulders. The shoulders are high, concave and taper upwards in anterior teeth, while they are oblique in lateral ones. Both distal and mesial cutting edges reach the base of the crown, including the shoulders, and are mostly smooth but with irregular cusplets or low humps particularly over the shoulders. In profile view the principal cusp is slightly curved lingually. The enameloid surface is smooth in anterior and lateral teeth, with vertical striae on the base of the crown both in the labial and lingual faces. The lingual face of the crown is slightly concave in the upper section of the crown and convex towards the base, overhanging the root. There is no apron in anterior teeth, and a very reduced one is visible only in occlusal view in lateral teeth. The uvula is broad and triangular in anterior teeth, while it is shorter in lateral ones. The root vascularization is holaulacorhize, high and bulky in anterior teeth, while it is anaulacorhize at the labial face of the labiolingual duct of the lateral teeth, and comparatively shorter in lateral teeth. No visible foramina in the root.
